The Ten Virgins

"At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.

Five of them were foolish and five were wise. 

The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them.

The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps.

The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep.

“At midnight the cry rang out: ‘Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’

“Then all the virgins woke up and trimmed their lamps. ⁸ The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out.’

‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

¹⁰ “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.

“Later the others also came. ‘Lord, Lord,’ they said, ‘open the door for us!’

“But he replied, ‘Truly I tell you, I don’t know you.’

 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour."

"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come. It’s like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with their assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.

“Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back—whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn. If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!’ ”

(Gospel of Mark 13:28-37).

If you truly gave your life to Jesus (your sins have been washed away by His shed blood, you have been renewed by the Spirit of God and have metaphorically become a virgin, called to be wise, since your past has been cleared off : 2 Corinthians 5:17), you need to examine your faith daily (repent of all known and unknown sins and turn away from them) and guard your heart and its thoughts alike : give your entire existence away to Him.

Walk in the Spirit (keep your inner lamp on) by avoiding distractions (anything and anyone that prevents you from drawing closer to God), vanities and the carnality (impurities) of the world.

Do not let your inner circle, your job, your worries take over your relationship with God in Christ.

Stay spiritually awake through constant prayer, through intercession and with thanksgiving to the glory of God.

Les Dix Vierges.

"Alors le royaume des cieux sera semblable à dix vierges qui, ayant pris leurs lampes, allèrent à la rencontre de l'époux.

Cinq d'entre elles étaient folles, et cinq sages. Les folles, en prenant leurs lampes, ne prirent point d'huile avec elles; mais les sages prirent, avec leurs lampes, de l'huile dans des vases.

Comme l'époux tardait, toutes s'assoupirent et s'endormirent. Au milieu de la nuit, on cria: Voici l'époux, allez à sa rencontre! 

Alors toutes ces vierges se réveillèrent, et préparèrent leurs lampes. Les folles dirent aux sages: Donnez-nous de votre huile, car nos lampes s'éteignent. Les sages répondirent: Non; il n'y en aurait pas assez pour nous et pour vous; allez plutôt chez ceux qui en vendent, et achetez-en pour vous. 

Pendant qu'elles allaient en acheter, l'époux arriva; celles qui étaient prêtes entrèrent avec lui dans la salle des noces, et la porte fut fermée. 

Plus tard, les autres vierges vinrent, et dirent: Seigneur, Seigneur, ouvre-nous. 

Mais il répondit: Je vous le dis en vérité, je ne vous connais pas. 

Veillez donc, puisque vous ne savez ni le jour, ni l'heure."

(Evangile de Matthieu 25:1-13).

"Instruisez-vous par une comparaison tirée du figuier. Dès que ses branches deviennent tendres, et que les feuilles poussent, vous connaissez que l'été est proche. De même, quand vous verrez ces choses arriver, sachez que le Fils de l'homme est proche, à la porte. 

Je vous le dis en vérité, cette génération ne passera point, que tout cela n'arrive. Le ciel et la terre passeront, mais mes paroles ne passeront point.
Pour ce qui est du jour ou de l'heure, personne ne le sait, ni les anges dans le ciel, ni le Fils, mais le Père seul.
Prenez garde, veillez et priez; car vous ne savez quand ce temps viendra. Il en sera comme d'un homme qui, partant pour un voyage, laisse sa maison, remet l'autorité à ses serviteurs, indique à chacun sa tâche, et ordonne au portier de veiller. 

Veillez donc, car vous ne savez quand viendra le maître de la maison, ou le soir, ou au milieu de la nuit, ou au chant du coq, ou le matin; craignez qu'il ne vous trouve endormis, à son arrivée soudaine. 

Ce que je vous dis, je le dis à tous: Veillez."

(Evangile de Matthieu 13:28-37).

Si tu as donné ta vie à Jésus (tu as été purifié-e de tes péchés par Son sang versé, regénéré-e par l'Esprit de Dieu et es devenu-e métaphoriquement une vierge, appelée à etre sage car ton passé a été effacé : 2 Corinthiens 5:17), tu te dois d'examiner ta foi au quotidien (te repentir de tout péché connu et inconnu et t'en détourner), veiller sur ton coeur et ses pensées, jusqu'au retour du Seigneur (Apocalypse 1:7).

Marche selon l'Esprit de Dieu (garde la lumière qui est en toi, allumée) en évitant les distractions (toute chose et toute personne qui t'éloigne de Dieu), les vanités, la charnalité (les impuretés) du monde.

Ne laisse ni ton entourage, ni ton travail, ni tes soucis prendre le dessus sur ta relation avec Dieu, en Christ : consacre-Lui toute ton existence.

Demeure spirituellement éveillé(e) par la prière fervente, par l'intercession et toute autre action de grace, à la gloire de l'Eternel.
