The Sabbath

"For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”

Going on from that place, he went into their synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to bring charges against Jesus, they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out? 

How much more valuable is a person than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

Then he said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other.

But the Pharisees went out and plotted how they might kill Jesus."

(Gospel of Matthew 12:8-14).

Because the Sabbath (saturday) has been made for men to God's glory, it pleased God to sanctify that day through Jesus Christ, His begotten Son (and Lord of the Sabbath), by allowing His people and servants (justified by their Faith and living under the grace) to do, say, think what is righteous, honorable and good before Him, including preaching, charity and similar things.

The Sabbath Day is not a religious day but an act of worship and faithfulness to God, just like the remaining days of the week, accordingly to His commandments.

"Car le Fils de l'homme est maître du sabbat.

Etant parti de là, Jésus entra dans la synagogue. Et voici, il s'y trouvait un homme qui avait la main sèche. Ils demandèrent à Jésus: Est-il permis de faire une guérison les jours de sabbat? C'était afin de pouvoir l'accuser. 

Il leur répondit: Lequel d'entre vous, s'il n'a qu'une brebis et qu'elle tombe dans une fosse le jour du sabbat, ne la saisira pour l'en retirer? 

Combien un homme ne vaut-il pas plus qu'une brebis! Il est donc permis de faire du bien les jours de sabbat. 

Alors il dit à l'homme: Etends ta main. Il l'étendit, et elle devint saine comme l'autre. 

Les pharisiens sortirent, et ils se consultèrent sur les moyens de le faire périr."

(Evangile de Matthieu 12:8-14).

Parce que le Sabbat (samedi) a été créé pour l'homme, à la gloire de Dieu, il a plu à Dieu de sanctifier ce jour-là à travers Jésus Christ, Son Fils bien-aimé (et Maitre du Sabbat), en permettant à Son peuple et à Ses serviteurs (justifiés au moyen de la Foi et vivant sous la grace) de faire, dire, penser ce qui est juste, honorable et agréable à Ses yeux, y compris la prédication, la charité et les choses semblables.

Le Sabbat n'est pas un jour religieux mais un acte de révérence et de fidélité à Dieu tout comme doivent l'etre les autres jours de la semaine, en accord avec Ses commandements.
